Is it Scripture?

“Faith consists in believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe.”

Okay, we’ve all been there, to the edge of our faith and back. When you want something so much, you pray about it, wish upon a star, cross all of your fingers and toes, and as usual everything goes awry. You begin to believe it is impossible, it could never happen because it’s not God’s will for your life.
We are to trust in the Lord with every fiber of our being, even when it is impossible to remember “nothing is impossible with God.” Let’s look at it from another angle. When we think of God, we put Him in a box, with our finite thoughts, vocabulary, and sometimes even our actions. So, when we put God into a box we just begin to understand some complexity of who He is -- only looking at a minuscule attribute of an omnipotent God.
So, if your faith begins to wither and you start to believe ‘this is impossible,’ remember to step out (blindly) in faith with your eyes on Him and watch God do miracles in your life.
The quote “Faith consists in believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe” comes from Voltaire, a French writer and activist during the period of the Enlightenment era. The Bible does mention that the faith we have is sometimes blinded, but do not lose hope, for God’s timing is never our timing; His blessings may be more that anything we could ask for. We just need to gain the unwavering faith in Him who can do all things. In Hebrews chapter 11, the scripture that best defines this quote is “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” (NIV). So, even when we cannot see the finish line we know to keep running and God will be there guiding our every step, keep your faith strong in Him, and learn to lean on Him and not your own understanding.
